Search and Rescue
Search & Rescue
Search and Rescue (SAR) involves not only searching for missing or lost people but also rescuing injured hikers, climbers, skiers, hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts, body recoveries, evidence searches and disaster response as well.
SAR is a non-profit volunteer unit for the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. Currently there are approximately 150 volunteers who are members of one or more of our specialty teams. To be SAR certified, members complete a 100-hour Oregon State Sheriff’s Association certification course that we host once per year and meet all their requirements.
Annually, each member obtains 30 or more hours of continuing SAR training or mission time. All SAR certified members maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
