Emergency Management

The Emergency Management Division logo

The Benton County Emergency Management team plans and directs emergency procedures to help protect citizens from natural and human-caused disasters. We work to prepare for emergencies including community emergency response training, exercises and maintaining an Emergency Operations Center where response agencies coordinate actions and allocate resources in an emergency.

This office also develops plans concerning four major areas:

  • Mitigation: public education, hazard vulnerability assessment, improved infrastructure
  • Preparedness: emergency response plans, training and exercises
  • Response: life safety, incident stabilization, property preservation, evacuation, shelters, mass care
  • Recovery: economic recovery, debris management, housing, health and social services

Our goal is to limit Benton County’s exposure to emergencies and disasters while managing them when they do occur. Our office functions as an administrator and facilitator of the efforts in an emergency or disaster situation.
