Concealed Handgun License Process Transitioning to Online System

Concealed Handgun License Process Transitioning to Online System

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Beginning August 12, 2024, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) will be moving to a new online process, offered through a third-party vendor, “Permitium”, for applying for or renewing your online application for a Concealed Handgun License (CHL).

Applicants will now have the ability to access the BCSO website and select the link for applying for a new, or renewal of a current CHL. Online applicants can pay online for the application, to include processing and service fees, at https://bentonor.permitium.com/ccw/start. Applicants for a new CHL will also be able to schedule the required fingerprint appointment.

The new process will create a more interactive experience that will allow the applicant to view the status of their application, as well as be notified upon approval or denial. The applicant will also be able to electronically upload any documents needed for the application process. Once an application is approved, a new license will be provided. The online process will also allow citizens greater flexibility to apply and submit their application any time of day, even during non-business hours of the Sheriff’s Office.

“I’m excited for the implementation of this new online application system, which should make the process easier and more accessible for our citizens, especially those in our rural communities,” stated Sheriff Van Arsdall.

Applications that have been received prior to this announcement will continue to be processed using our current system.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is committed to helping the public as we make this transition. Those with questions about the CHL application process can go online to https://sheriff.bentoncountyor.gov/concealed-handgun-license, call (541) 766-6606, or email CHL@bentoncountyor.gov.
