Special Services

The Special Services Division’s primary focus is Search and Rescue (SAR).

The Benton County Sheriff’s SAR mission is to provide professional, high-quality search and rescue assistance to citizens of Benton County, visitors who recreate locally, and mutual aid to other counties as requested. Services provided include searching for and providing aid to people who are missing, lost, injured, or in imminent danger. The ability to save a life or effect a successful rescue is often dependent upon how quickly the person can be found or reached.

Our division is comprised of two employees and our role is coordinating actions and allocating resources in an emergency. To do this we partner with other agencies and supervise over 150 volunteers.  Our volunteers consist of a number of specialty teams, including Corvallis Mountain Rescue, Marys Peak SAR, Amateur Radio Emergency Service, Mounted Posse, Region Three K9, & SKYSAR
