Benton County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse

Welcome to the Benton County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse (BCSMP) information page.

Purpose

Posse members are trained in mounted search and rescue (transporting goods and people), tracking, large animal rescue, and emergency preparedness. The Posse assists with large animal rescues and helps with wildland fire evacuations. They also have a ceremonial and public relations function where they represent the Sheriff’s Office at events across the state. Each member supplies their own horse, gear, and trailer.

Meeting information

  • When: The Posse meets at 6:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month.
  • Where: Benton County Public Works located at 360 SW Avery Ave., in the Avery Day Room.
