Honor Guard
Honor Guard

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Honor Guard serves as a ceremonial unit and the formal representation of the Sheriff. Founded in 2015, the Honor Guard carries out ceremonial duties under the direction of the Sheriff. These duties include law enforcement funerals, memorial ceremonies, color (flag) presentations, parades, and other special events. Notably, the Honor Guard made its inaugural appearance at the line-of-duty memorial service for Coos County Deputy Gil Datan.
The Honor Guard Unit
The Sheriff’s Office selects sworn Deputies from all divisions to serve on the Honor Guard. Currently, members come from both the Law Enforcement and Corrections divisions. This broad representation reflects the dedication shared across the entire agency.
To serve on the Honor Guard, Deputies must perform close-order drill and ceremony. They also stand motionless for extended periods, which requires strong physical stamina and personal discipline. Additionally, each member must maintain a polished, professional appearance at all times. Together, these standards ensure the Honor Guard reflects the highest level of professionalism. The Honor Guard takes great pride in representing the dedicated men and women of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, and members consider it a true honor to participate in ceremonial events.
In Memoriam
The BCSO Honor Guard honors the memory of Benton County Sheriff’s Office employees who died in the line of duty. Their sacrifice reminds us of the commitment every Deputy brings to this community.
