CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Benton County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) addresses local hazards and provides education, hands-on skills training, and empowerment for individuals in emergency preparedness. The course is taught by local professional responders, State certified trainers, and volunteers who are subject matter experts. The class is 12 hours of online coursework, followed by 16 hours of in-person training. Benton County CERT provides a safe, positive, and inclusive experience for people of all abilities. On Saturday, July 13, 2024, at approximately 8:25 pm, Naomi drowned in the Willamette River near river mile 132 in Corvallis, about 100 yards upstream from the Mary’s River.
